“Streamlit and Gradio for DS App Deployment” was a mentorship workshop held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 7:00 PM. It was hosted on Zoom and livestreamed on the UP Data Science Society Facebook page.

The workshop answered a practical question: once a data science project works in a notebook, how do you put it in front of other people? Jay Cruz walked through turning a notebook into an application using Streamlit and Gradio, two Python libraries that wrap a script or a model in a web interface without a separate front end.

Speaker

Jay Cruz is a volunteer developer and researcher for Omdena, where he applies his experience in data science and analytics to projects in the international space. He previously worked at MYCURE as a web developer and has taken on projects within the University of the Philippines aimed at goodwill and social impact.

The session was announced the day before, on February 7, 2025. A week later the society ran its first mentorship session of the semester, “Governing the Algorithm”, on the legal and ethical side of AI.
