Read the announcement on Facebook“Beyond AI Adoption: Building a Culture of Responsible Use in Academe and the Workplace” was a Globe Data Dialogues session held online on August 4, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, over Zoom with a livestream on the UP Data Science Society Facebook page. It was organized by the UP Data Science Society in partnership with Globe.
The premise was that AI tools are already part of how students and employees work, so the question is no longer whether to adopt them but how to use them safely and well. The session treated responsible use as a culture to be built rather than a rule to be imposed, one that needs mindfulness, critical thinking, and integrity from the people using the tools. The pitch was aimed at fresh graduates preparing for internships and at students wondering how the workplace and the academe will change around these technologies.
Speaker
Celso T. Villano Jr. is the Machine Learning Operations Manager at Globe Telecom under the Enterprise Data and Strategic Services group. He leads the operationalization and scaling of machine learning models, with the goal of reliable pipelines that produce measurable business results.
What happened
The session ran as scheduled on August 4, 2026. Participants joined over Zoom, and the society thanked them afterward for their interest in responsible AI use in both school and industry settings. The announcement posters were designed by Jedd de Leon and Artemio Arcega III.
About the partnership
Globe is one of the companies the UP Data Science Society works with to reach data-minded students across the UP System. This was one of a series of Globe Data Dialogues sessions in 2026; earlier in the year, Globe’s data architecture team spoke at A day in the life of a data architect. In 2025, Globe Enterprise data professionals joined the society for a fireside chat at the Computational Science Research Center in UP Diliman and for “Unlock Data’s Power: A Data Management and Governance Overview” over Zoom. Companies interested in a similar session can reach the society through the partnerships page.
